Merlet C² Café & Cognac combines Merlet's liqueur and distiller know-how, highlighting two classic "after-meal" drinks. Merlet partnered with a roaster in its region, Merling in La Rochelle, to select the origin and variety of coffee (Arabica from Brazil) and work directly on freshly roasted coffee beans. The roasted and ground coffee of the day is immediately infused in hot water. The resulting aqueous coffee infusion is stabilized by the addition of excess alcohol and then filtered. Cognac is then mixed in, representing a minimum of 50% of the alcoholic ingredients. Finally, sugar is added to obtain the final liqueur. The aromatic intensity is exceptional, and the moderate sugar content maintains the natural bitterness of the coffee, for tasting neat or on ice. There are many other applications.
C² Café & Cognac can be enjoyed on its own with ice, with a zest of orange or a cinnamon stick, or for the more gourmet, with a little chocolate. It can also be enjoyed mixed with sparkling water or tonic.
